When should you change your captain in EURO Fantasy?
In this short article, we will look at some basic “rules” (captaincy thresholds system), when you should change your captain to help you with your dilemma.
Let’s go.
Havertz, Musiala, Wirtz captain: Matchday 1 dilemma after Day 1
So, if you have Musiala, Havertz or Wirtz captain after the Day 1 of Matchday 1, we think, you should keep the captaincy on them and not change it to another player. Your backup captain(s) would have to do a lot to match them, and we think that potential gains are not worth the risk of switching captaincy.
Imagine you have Writz (10 * 2 = 20 points) captain and consider changing the captaincy to Dimarco, Szoboszlai, Kane, Mbappe…
If Kane scores a brace (that’s 13 points if he gets a MOTM as well, 10 points without MOTM), that is 26 captaincy points. Here is the breakdown:
- Wirtz (C) + Kane = 20 + 13 = 33 points
- Wirtz + Kane (C) = 10 + 26 = 36 points
As you an see, your backup captain would neet to get two attacking returns to make the switch worth it.
So even if Kane (or your other backup captain) scores a brace (and gets MOTM), you would gain only 3 points on switching the captaincy from Wirtz. And if he will not get MOTM award, it would be the same 10 points.. Is that really worth the risk?
We think not. That’s why we think you should keep the armband on Havertz, Musiala or Wirtz.
